Premier League side Arsenal have completed the signing of Gabon international Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang for a club record fee of £60m.
The Gunners, announced the signing of Aubameyang on their official club website just before the 5pm deadline day transfer window shutdown in Germany.
He becomes the third signing for Arsenal during the January transfer window, following the arrivals of Konstantinos Mavropanos and Henrikh Mkhitaryan.
The transfer of the player completed a merry-go-round of transfer between Chelsea, Arsenal and Borussia Dortmund. Aubameyang was only allowed to go join Arsenal once Dortmund completed the loan signing of Michy Batshuayi and Chelsea signing Olivier Giroud from Arsenal.
Auba will now link up with his former team-mate Mkhitaryan, who he played with at Dortmund for 3-years.
After his departure, Dortmund Sporting Director Michael Zorc announced: “Apart from the unpleasant events of recent weeks, we like to remember that the story of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang at Borussia Dortmund for more than four years was a success story.
“He has done great things for Borussia Dortmund at this time, scored many important goals and is part of the team that brought DFB Cup to Dortmund in 2017.
“We wish Pierre-Emerick all the best for his future at Arsenal.”
Arsenal will now be hoping the signing of Auba will help them push on for a top-four finish in the Premier League. With only 13 games to go of the season, the Gunners find themselves 8 points adrift of fourth place. It could mean the high profile signings of Aubameyang and Mkhitaryan could miss out of Champions League football next season.
Arsenal, will be hoping the 28-year-old can replicate his form in the Bundesliga. The Gabon international scored a total of 98 league goals in 144 appearances for the club.
