Premier League side Arsenal are looking to make a swoop for Juventus and Italy defender Daniele Rugani as they look to offload German defender Shkodran Mustafi.
English football website TeamTalk is reporting that the Gunners see Rugani as the ideal replacement for Mustafi who they want to sell on this summer after a serious of bad defensive displays.
Mustafi himself has not been happy with life in North London and has in the past almost left the Gunners. Only last summer he was on the brink of a move away from the Gunners who in the end decided to keep him on due to no replacement being signed before the transfer deadline.
The German international defender was recently linked with a move away to Juventus with a possible swap deal between both defenders now on the cards.
Rugani, a 23-year-old Italian international, is rated in the €25m bracket, a similar figure Arsenal rate their current German international centre-back at.
The young defender has currently made only 17 appearances for The Old Lady this season, with the majority of those games coming in domestic cup games and as substitute appearances. With a settled back line of Medhi Benatia and Giorgio Chiellini in the back middle of the defence, Rugani has found it hard to establish himself as a regular in the Juve first-eleven.
However, with the defender an Italian international and only 23-years-old, The Old Lady may wish to keep him on further and see him as one for the future. With Chiellini turning 34-years-old this summer its only a matter of time before Juve starts thinking of a long-term replacement for the Italian veteran defender.
Rugani has six full international caps to his name so far with the defender hoping to add more to his name in the future.
