Real Madrid honorary president and former player Francisco Gento has claimed beating Liverpool in the Champions League Final will be a piece of cake.
Gento a former Real Madrid great told Marca in an interview that beating Jurgen Klopp’s men in the final in Kiev on the 26th May will be a piece of cake.
When asked by Marca how he thinks the final will go he responded by telling the media outlet: “Everyone gets excited by these kinds of games, everyone wants to be there to support the team and cheer them on to win another European Cup, and continue this great run we’re in and which we have always enjoyed in this competition.
“Madrid cannot let this chance slip, finals are to be won, not played and Real Madrid know what is at stake. That goes without saying, it will be a piece of cake.”
The confidence from the former player follows Los Blancos players celebrations at the final whistle when they just scrapped past Bayern Munich in the semi-finals. Real players wore shirts with the number 13 printed on them stating “on to 13 we go”.
A lose in the final to Liverpool would be a major embarrassment to Real Madrid if Liverpool were to lift the trophy for the sixth time in their history.
With the attacking front-three of Mane, Firminio and Salah, many pundits believe the final will not be as straightforward for Real this time around. With a loss of form this season and an ageing squad, many feel this Liverpool team has the ability to score at will against a shaky Madrid backline.
However, with the team aiming for their 13th title and make it a hat-trick of back-to-back wins, many believe the experience of the team in this competition will be enough to win it.
One thing is for sure, with the attacking power of both teams, and shaky backlines, this game is going to have plenty of goalmouth action.
