Italian publication La Gazzetta dello Sport is reporting that talks between Modric agent and club official have already taken place to take the 32-year-old Croatian international to Milan.

The Croatia captain was voted FIFA Player of the Tournament during this summers World Cup in Russia which saw his nation reach the final and finish runners-up to eventual winners France.

It is understood the player would be keen on a move to Inter and his club Real Madrid could be open to the move also considering the age of the player.

Real Madrid has already let star player Ronaldo leave and could now do the same with Modric.

The European Champions are now going through major changes under new manager Lopetegui who will be promoting more Spanish stars to the team as possible. He will also be hoping to bring down the average age of the team.

If Luka Modric does make the move to Inter he will join fellow countrymen Marcelo Brozovic, Ivan Perisic and recent signing Sime Vrasaljko at the Nerazzurri.

Inter Milan have been strengthening the team this summer with the captures of Radja Nainggolan from Roma, Lautaro Martinez from Argentina and Sime Vrasaljko from Atletico Madrid.

Luciano Spalletti led his team back into the Champions for the first time in six-year with a last day victory over rivals Lazio last season. He will be hoping to build a team who can challenge domestically and in Europe’s top table in the coming season.

Adding Modric to the squad will certainly go a long way to making them one of the favourites for Serie A and the Champions League.
