Seria A champions Juventus have made a bid for €15m for CSKA Moscow and Russia midfielder Aleksandr Golovin.
Golovin, who was one for Russia’s stand out performers in the 5-0 demolition of Saudi Arabia in the opening game of this summers World Cup, is attracting interest from some of Europe’s biggest clubs.
The 22-year-old setup two goals and scored a free-kick in the opening match against the Saudi’s.
Italian media outlet Gazzetta dello Sport is claiming Juventus have stolen a march ahead of their rivals by submitting a €15m bid for the 22-year-old who plays for Russian Premier League side CSKA Moscow.
However, we understand CSKA have knocked back the bid and want close to €25m for their star player.
Juventus first bid was to test the waters, and we now expect the Old Lady to come in with an offer of €20m-plus for the attacking midfielder.
Reports from England claim that Manchester United and Arsenal are also monitoring Golovin’s situation. The interest could spark a bidding war which could increase the price of the player.
At the same time, CSKA will be hoping their star man puts in a few more good performances which could increase the player’s price even further.
The Russian international started off his career with CSKA Moscow and has now gone onto make 81 appearances, scoring nine goals.
On the international stage, he has won 21 caps for Russia, scoring four goals. He will be hoping to add further to those tallies in the coming weeks.
Golovin will be in action tonight when Russia take on Egypt in St.Petersburg. A win for Russia will surely mean a place in the last-16 and an early exit for Egypt who lost to Uruguay in their opening game.
