Italian league leaders and champions Juventus are ready to drop their interest in Emre Can if he does not give an answer to the contract offer they have made to him earlier in the year.
The Liverpool Echo are reporting that Juventus have started to become frustrated after hearing no reply back from Emre Can on the contract offer that was made to him back in January.
Can, who’s contract expires with Liverpool on June 30th will become a free agent from July 1st, with Juventus so far the only club offering the German international a move away from Anfield. However, other clubs such as former club Bayern Munich maybe lining up an offer for the player.
The 24-year-old German international midfielder has so far refused to commit his long-term future with Liverpool, with it now looking likely he will be playing his football away from the Reds.
Juventus general manager Giuseppe Marotta has told reporters that the Serie A side are running of patients with Can and will will start to look at alternative targets should he delay any further.
He told reporters in Italy: “We are periodically pointed to as a club that buys players. We have a squad suited to three tournaments and it meets our needs.
“We’re ready to take any opportunities, I won’t deny we are concentrated on Emre Can and awaiting his response. That is our primary objective.
“If there is a negative response, we’ll move our attention on to other players.”
Emre Can limped off in the first-half of Liverpool’s 5-0 victory over Watford at Anfield this weekend. Jurgen Klopp later told reports he doesn’t think the injury is too serious.
Liverpool trashed Watford yesterday in a one sided game which saw Mohamed Salah score 4 of the 5 goals in the game. The other goal he laid on a assist for Roberto Firminio.
