Manchester United are targetting a move for England World Cup hero Harry Maguire as Jose Mourinho looks for options to strengthen his backline defence.
English broadcaster Skysports is reporting the Red Devils have made an official enquiry to Harry Maguire club Leicester City over the availability of the England hero this summer.
It is expected that his club Leicester City will demand in access of £60m for the defender if United harbour any ambitions of signing the giant England defender.
Maguire who played a starring role for England at this summers World Cup in Russia is now regarding as one of the best defenders in world football after putting in some impressive performances for the Three Lions during their run to the semi-finals.
Jose Mourinho now wants to add the 23-year-old to his team. However, it is expected that the United board will ask Mourinho to make room for Maguire by selling on some players. it is expected players such as Marcos Rojo and the already departed Danny Blind could make way for Maguire.
The England defender only joined Leicester City for £17m last summer. If he is sold on for £60m+ then it would represent a huge profit for the Foxes who have already sold Riyad Marhez for £60m to Manchester City this summer.
A player who is strong in the air, a good tackler and comfortable on the ball would surely strengthen an already stubborn backline at Old Trafford.
United have so far endured a tough pre-season and lost to arch-rivals Liverpool 4-1 last night in Michigan. A big name signing such as Harry Maguire would surely boost fans hopes going into the new season.
If Maguire does sign for United then he will come up against Leicester at Old Trafford in the Premier League season opener.
