Arsenal midfielder Mesut Ozil has finally signed a contract extension with the Gunners which will keep him at the club until 2021.
Mesut Ozil, the German international has finally ended speculation over his future at the Emirates by signing a long-term deal. It was expected the playmaker would move on from Arsenal during the summer, but he has now committed his long-term future to the club.
The Gunners announced the new deal on the official Arsenal website: “We’re delighted Mesut Ozil has signed a new long-term contract with us.
“Mesut has won the Emirates FA Cup three times since joining in 2013, making 182 appearances, scoring 36 goals and racking up 61 assists.
“He’s a World Cup winner too, of course, lifting that trophy with Germany in 2014.
“Mesut has been in sparkling form this season too, scoring four goals, claiming seven assists and creating 70 assists in 21 appearances in all competitions.
“Congratulations Mesut – Heres to many more years of success.”
The German international also announced on his twitter account: “Proud to announce I signed. Three more years at Arsenal.
“It’s been one of the most important decisions of my footballing career and that’s why I had to think hard and talk with everyone who’s important to me, good things take time.”
The news will come as a relief too Gunners fans who where expecting Ozil to follow in the footsteps of Alexis Sanchez and leave for a new challenge.
The last few days have been eventful but positive for Arsenals fans. With Ozil signing a new contract and the signings of Mkhitaryan and Aubamayeng, fans will be hoping for a better second half of the season.
