The club announced the news on their official website by declaring their record-breaking title-winning manager Pep Guardiola will be staying on at the club until 2021. News that will bring joy to Manchester City fans all over the world.
Guardiola lead City to the title with a record-breaking points tally of 100 points, beating the previous record set by Chelsea of 95 points. His team also scored the record amount of goals in a Premier League season by smashing the back of the net 106 times. They also recorded the largest goals difference of +79.
After signing the new contract, Guardiola told the Man City club website: “I am so happy and excited. It’s a pleasure to be able to work here.
“I enjoyed working with our players every day and we will try to do our best together in the coming years. As a manager, you have to feel good to be with the players, and I feel good.
“I will focus on the desire of my players to become a better team and every day that’s what I will try to do to improve on the pitch and improve our players.
“We have a young squad with an average age of 23 and we want to keep taking steps forward and maintain the levels we’ve achieved this season.”
Last season began trophyless for the former Bayern and Barcelona manager. However, after taking one-season to adapt to life in the Premier League, Guardiola has now established himself as the best manager in England by far.
It will now be a summer of strengthening for Pep, who only needs to add a few players to add depth to the team squad. Other teams such as United, Liverpool and Tottenham will be hoping to try catch Guardiola’s men next season.
