European champions Real Madrid are planning a massive late bid of £88m for Inter Milan and Argentina striker Mauro Icardi.
Spanish publication Don Balon are reporting that Real president Florentino Perez is looking to make Mauro Icardi a late signing during the transfer window.
With Real Madrid struggling for form this season, manager Zinedine Zidane is looking to add more firepower upfront to revive the Los Blancos season. It is no secrete that Zidane has asked Perez for a striker in the past as he feels the form of Karim Benzema who has been misfiring all season needs to be addressed urgently.
It now seems Perez is taking the advice of his manager and will support him by trying to sign the Argentina international before tomorrows transfer deadline, making it the second biggest deal of this Januarys transfer window behind Philippe Coutinho to Barcelona.
Icardi, who is only 24-years-old, has played in the Italian top flight for 6-years, making over 180 appearances and scoring 100 goals. He has established himself as one of the leading strikers in European football.
The Argentine international had a brief spell in the Barcelona youth setup in his teenage years, before making £400,000 move to Sampdoria. In 2013 Inter Milan signed him for €6.5m. He has since gone onto make a total of 147 appearances for the club, scoring 89 goals.
On the international stage he has only won 4 caps for his country Argentina, which many people see as a shock due to his prolific ability in-front of goal.
However, if a big money move to Real Madrid is completed, he will be put into the main spotlight and do no harm to his chances of making the final 23-man squad for the Argentine national team for Russia 2018.
