Chelsea and Belgium international goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois wants to move back to Spain and join European Champions Real Madrid.
Sky Sports Spanish Football Expert Guillem Balague has told the sports channel that Thibaut Courtois is keen to move back to Madrid to be close to his two children, who still live with his ex-girlfriend who he met during his time with Atletico Madrid.
And it seems Real Madrid are keen to sign the keeper and bring him back to Madrid, a City Courtois considers to be his home.
Real, plan to replace current number one keeper Keylor Navas next season, after the keepers lose of form this term. And they want the Belgium international number one to be the new number one at the Santiago Bernabeu.
The news has alerted Chelsea, who will offer Courtois an improved contract to change his mind, making him the highest paid keeper in world football. However, the 25-year-old main motivation is to be close to his children, with only a move to Madrid satisfying his wish.
Real have already completed the signing of Athletic Bilbao keeper Kepa Arrizabalaga, who is certain to join in January. He is seen more as second choice option with a view to being understudy to Courtois if he was to sign next summer.
With the possibility of losing their number one keeper, Chelsea will be looking to replace him with a high quality world class keeper. One option would be for Keylor Navas to go the other way, but we understand the Blues main target will be Jan Oblak of Atletico Madrid.
The Slovenian international joined Atletico Madrid in 2014 as a replacement for Courtois, who had been on-loan with Atletico the previous two seasons. Oblak has established himself as the best keeper in La Liga since his arrival, and would be a quality replacement should Courtois depart for Madrid.
