Barcelona and Colombia defender Yerry Mina is set to join Liverpool on loan from next season according to reports coming out of Spain.
Spanish TV station presenter from El Chringuito revealed Yerry Mina future lies with the Reds next season after a season-long loan deal for the player has been agreed between both clubs.
The TV stations presenter Ignacio Miguelez told viewers: “There is one player whose future for next season is clear, and that is Yerry Mina.
“The Colombian will spend the season on loan at Liverpool.”
Mina signed for Barcelona back in January from Brazilian side Palmeiras for £10m. However, he has failed to establish himself in the Barcelona first-team and he has only made five appearances to date.
It is understood Barca coach Ernesto Valverde wants the 23-year-old Colombian international to go out and get more experience of European football before calling him back to the Nou Camp.
The move will also give Liverpool much needed steal at the back of the defence with Mina at 6’5 inches a perfect partner for record signing Virgil Van Dijk in the Liverpool defence.
Jurgen Klopp is looking for reinforcements at the back as current defenders Dejan Lovern and Joel Matip have failed to impress supporters and the clubs management with constant mistakes at the back.
Mina is a Brazilian title winner with Palmeiras and he has won 28 caps, scoring six goals for the Colombian national team. Liverpool fans will be able to get a closer look at the giant defender this summer when he represents his country in this summers World Cup in Russia.
If Jurgen Klopp is able to sure up the Liverpool backline, then surely they will be able to challenge Manchester City for the title next season.
